DIY Faux Succulent Garden in Sea Shell

I found a gorgeous succulent arrangement in a shell online (my inspiration). It was perfect. Just what I wanted. It was WAY too expensive. So I had no choice but to figure out how to make one for much less. And it turned out better than I hoped!

First, I had to find a shell. I happened to come across this one at TJ Maxx. But here are some options for finding them online. I was happy with the $20 price tag. Here are some I found online that might work...

Then I headed to Hobby Lobby to find the succulents. They have lots of great options but they never go on sale :(.

I consulted the photo of my inspiration as I selected my "plants."

You also need:
Foam ball - cut in half
Moss
Wire cutters
Hot glue gun

If you can't make it to the store, you can always order online. Here are a few pretty ones I like.

Cut the stems as needed and start arranging them in your foam.

Just keep working and looking at your inspiration photo as you go. You want to pack them in there pretty well.

Once you've added all your plants, add the moss. You just pull back the plants and cover all the foam with the moss. Simple.

I used the hot glue gun here and there, but not a lot honestly. It's all about the placement.

Tip: place the taller plants in back first and work your way forward.

The best part about this project is that they are fake, but the looks SO REAL! And I never have to water them or worry about killing them... I have been known to murder some plants.

I ended up spending about $70 total on this project. Of course, if you love it and you don't feel like being crafty, you can always just buy one.

I hope you try this easy and gorgeous project. I just love mine!
