I believe in jewelry. I'm a big fan. If you want to get me a gift, jewelry is the safest bet (just ask my husband). I love the sparkle, the way it makes me feel when I have on just the right piece. BUT I have, I mean had, a problem with organization. I couldn't seem to keep track of what I had and I was always forgetting about that awesome necklace or that classic bracelet. I was in essence wasting perfectly good jewelry... and we can't have that.
I visited my cute friend Deidra in Washington DC back in May and she showed my her magnetic jewelry board. Now Deidra has a jewelry collection that would make any J. Crew fan swoon and her board was totally adorable. You may remember when I posted it on Instagram.
It took me a while to get my act together and make one myself but I finally did it and I am in love... in LOVE I say!
Here's how I made it...
I found a pretty fabric in the home decor fabric section at Hobby Lobby. It's a natural lenin look with a touch of metallic and it's so so pretty! I used my DIY Wrinkle Releaser to get the wrinkles out of the fabric. You could opt to iron... but I kinda hate that idea ;)
I used a glue gun to secure the fabric to the board. You want to apply the glue to the underside of the board, not along the edge for a nice clean look. I applied it on one of the outside edges and I certainly regret it. Take it from me, glue on the inside :)
I chose to hang my new jewelry boards for my little vanity desk, along with this adorable mirror and my Do Small Thing with Great Love printable (you can download it free if you want to).
Oh, I just wanted to show you really quick my super cute gold-dipped stool. Isn't it amazing what you can do with a little bottle of Liquid Feaf
?
Now let's just look at pretty pictures of this project...
My favorite thing about this project is that I now know where everything is and when I accessorize there is no digging for the perfect piece, it's just all there in front of me!
Not only that, but I get to display some pieces that are very dear to me, like the rings my dad gave me for my eighth and twelfth birthdays, my grand mother's pearls, and all the pretty items my husband has given me through the years. Also, when I get something new, it's easy to rearrange or add hooks!
I hope you try this project, it really is one of my favorite things ever! If you do try it don't forget to let me know!
XOXO
