I hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas season! I am just dying to share one of my favorite Christmas traditions with you... making vanilla! It's the perfect neighbor/friend gift. Plus it's really fun to make it yourself.
This is what it looked like when I first added started the vanilla-making process.
What you need:
1 cup Vodka
3 Vanilla Beans
Brew time: at least 6 weeks
Simply slice your vanilla beans length-wise and put them in a jar filled with vodka. I actually made this vanilla last year. I just stuck it in the back of my pantry and shook it every once in a while. I have used it throughout the year. But I made tons, so I am giving it away for Christmas this year.
My vanilla happens to be made with Mexican vanilla beans because my brother was living in Mexico and gave me some vanilla beans last Christmas.
If you can get Mexican vanilla beans, they have such a wonderful taste and fragrance (it's almost worth a trip to Cancun... wait... now I want a trip to Cancun). But if you can't, any vanilla beans will do.
If you get around to making your own vanilla, I have created a little printable label for you. It's downloadable and you can edit the text! Yay!
I got these little bottles at Hobby Lobby for $.77. Your friends and neighbors are going to love it.
