Friends, it's time for another post in my Home Decor Series! It's time to talk master bedrooms. I have kids. Some times I feel like I have so many kids that I might as well live in a shoe. Now you're wondering, "How many kids does this lady have anyway?" I have three. But, ya know, sometime it feels there are just so many of them!
My master bedroom can be a crazy place; kids diving off my bed and toddlers getting into my jewlery box. BUT is should also be a sanctuary; a romantic retreat. Mine is so not either. But I've made up my mind to make it that way. So, I'm currently working on it. I thought I would share some of my inspiration and some tips to help you create a beautiful and romantic master bedroom too!
Aly talks about creating your own gorgeous master bedroom!
Chevon and floral, cotton and linen! Wood planked walls in a gorgeous color. Make it interesting and lovely by combining unusual textures and prints. I love the black and white duvet cover paired with the white coverlet and aqua throw ! Just make sure you only use a maximum of three prints. In this photo, the wood plank walls serves as the third pattern (stripes).
If you are going to do it you might as well do it BIG! An interesting light fixture can set the tone for the whole room and really make it special. Make a statement! Do an awesome DIY job on a thrifted piece, build it yourself, or splurge.
I also love how the walls and ceilings are painted the same color with chunky crown moulding. I might just have to use that idea! I am just in love with this upholstered headboard !
I am crushing on these colors and the incredible coral-colored patterns. Don't be afraid to layer pattern, but keep it neutral otherwise. Also, think complementary colors (blue & orange are complimentary). Get this look with this bold duvet and soft blue coverlet .
Layer Neutral Colors
Check it out! The wall color and headboard are the same color. Set if off with a pop of color! This looks great with this shade of orange but it would also be magical with a pop of blue or green or even yellow. Yum!
This ceiling is spectacular! I love a beautiful surprise where you least expect it.
You can't go wrong with simple, clean lines paired with a classic bedroom color. When in doubt, go with crisp white sheets and duvet . PS I am a believer in sunburst mirrors over beds.
I seriously MUST have a sitting area in my bedroom. A) they are so super awesome. B) my master bedroom is too big for it's own good and I have to fill the space somehow!
My favorite arrangement for a bedroom sitting area is two chairs with a table in between. You can count on this arrangement being part of my master bedroom. I already have the chairs and they are begging for a makeover.
I hope you got inspired! Now go make some romance in you bedroom... err... you know what I mean.
