Kitchen Chalk Board {from a Thrifted Platter}

I am constantly in need of a place to write things down; things I really don't want to forget. Problem solved. All I needed was a pretty vintage tray and some chalk board spray paint. Now I have my very own custom chalk board for my kitchen.

You could put it anywhere really. But it seems like I am usually in the kitchen (or the shower) when I think of something I don't want to forget.

Here's how mine looks in my kitchen.

First, I carefully taped around the platter using its natural slope as a guide. Then I took a plastic garbage bag and stuck it to the tape, wrapping it all the way around the platter. I was careful to make sure that no paint got on the outside of my tray... that would have been a such a bummer.

I wanted something on there that was a little more permanent to make it look cute and like it had a definite purpose... so I used a chalk marker to pen the words, "don't forget." At first, I tried to write it myself but finally come to the realization that I am not a chalk artist (I know, I was disappointed too).

So I used a chalk font and created this little print to help my non-chalk-artist self. I'm glad I did because it made it a million time easier.

It was so simple and it's so cute. Did I mention functional?

What do you think? Will you try it?
