DIY Chandelier from an Ugly Light Fixture

This light fixture has been sitting in my garage for about a year. It used to hang above our kitchen table. I got a pretty chandelier to replace it and it's been gathering dust ever since.  I have a serious thing for inexpensive light fixtures. But I have even more of a thing for taking something crappy and making it radical. I think it's pretty safe to say that this light fixture is now radical!

This is what I started with.  Pretty lame huh. If you built your house within the past 10 years you probably have the exact same one :)

First I taped the light bulb sockets so I didn't mess them up. That would be terrible.

And here's the good part! I painted this bad boy with Krylon Bahama Sea. This was my first experience with this shade and I have to say I am a fan.  A big fan indeed.

Dazzling right? I added some magnetic {awesome} crystals to finish it off. eeek! I'm pretty sure these crystals are the best thing ever invented.  Don't you think?
